Tungsten Electrode
Introduction
Tungsten electrode is made by tungsten powder with/without rare earth elements, and owns properties of high melting point, corrosion resistance, high density, good heat and electric conductivity. The adding of rare earth element is to lower down the electric discharge power and improve the welding ability.
Category
Pure tungsten electrode is without adding rare earth element and with purity over 99.95%.
Thorium tungsten electrode is added with 1%~4% thorium oxide.
Cerium tungsten electrode is doped with 2% cerium oxide and with grey tip color.
Lanthanum tungsten electrode is doped with 1.5% and 2% La2O3 and tip colors of gold and blue.
Zirconium tungsten electrode is doped with 0.3% and 0.5% ZrO2 and with tip color of brown and white.
Yttrium tungsten electrode is doped with 2% YO2 and with tip color of blue.
Composite tungsten electrode is doped with two or three rare earth elements.

Applications
All the electrodes are widely used in TIG welding to weld metals, including Al, Mg, Ni, Tan, Cu and their alloys. According to different sizes, the current should be chosen properly. The following chart is for reference.
